Studies on Intergenerational Correlation of Longevity

Greetings,

We have got a question from our scientific colleague about correlation between parents age at death and child’s age at death.  We responded, but then we understood that our answer could be of interest to other people too.

Here are some publications on this topic, which also contain reviews of other related studies.   You can get full texts of these articles just by clicking on the titles below:

Course Title:

New Approaches to Study Mortality and Longevity Risks

Brief Course Description:
This 3-hour course will overview new approaches and findings related to mortality and longevity risks, both on population level (mortality hazard rates above age 85) and individual level (predictors of exceptional longevity). Finally new initiatives of the US National Institute of Aging (NIA) on biomarkers of health risks at older ages will be discussed.
